Doctor Who star Matt Smith and girlfriend Daisy Lowe soak up the sun - and each other - with some passion in the park

We're not sure what was hotter - the soaring London heat or Daisy Lowe and Matt Smith's public display of affection.

One thing's for sure, they sent the mercury sky high as they had a passionate roll around in the grass during a visit to their local park this weekend.

The couple were snapped having a smooch as they stopped to soak up the sun during their stroll around Primrose Hill in north London.

And with only eyes - and arms - for each other, they didn't seem to care who saw them as they shared a passionate kiss.

Even their dog Monty took the hint and went off for a little exploration of his surroundings, leaving his pre-occupied owners to it.

The couple, who have been dating for a year, made the most of the unseasonably hot weather as they took their pooch for a walk in the park.

Although Matt, 28, looked as though he could do with getting out more often, because while Londoners have been enjoying the chance to bask in the spring sunshine, he has remained pale and interesting in the hot weather.

While model Daisy, 22, looked sunkissed and stylish in a knotted yellow vest and blue and white striped skirt, Matt opted for a baggy vest top which displayed a pair of decidedly scrawny, pale white arms.

Although he tried to make up for it with jeans and a cool pair of sunglasses it was an outfit choice that did the normally stylish actor no favours.

The couple were not the only celebrities to be spotted in the popular star-friendly suburb on Saturday.

At one point Matt and Daisy dropped in to cafe Le Tea Cosy for a smoothie, only for funnyman Ricky Gervais to be sitting at an outdoor table.

However the fact that he was in the presence of The Doctor clearly failed to register with Ricky - who blanked the couple as they emerged with their drinks.

Matt recently confessed in a newspaper interview that Daisy was exactly what he was looking for in a woman.

But despite their steamy romance, which has seen them recently kissing in public, Daisy's mother Pearl Lowe has said that marriage is not on the horizon.

‘That’s a long way off at the moment. Daisy is too young for that right now,' the designer recently told the Sunday Mirror.

'There is no rush is there? I waited until I was 38! I just liked to be sure after 16 years. We did it for the party to be honest.'

Meanwhile fans of the show finally got their chance to see the new series of Doctor Who when the first episode was screened on BBC1 on Saturday night.

The series, which writer Steven Moffat said would be the 'darkest yet', featured scenes in which the Doctor was blasted by a beam of light from a mysterious new character called The Astronaut.

'We’ve been dark before in Doctor Who,'Moffat said. 'But we’re coming in from the dark side just because we haven’t done it that way before.'

The first show of the new series will also see the terrifying Silence monsters make an appearance, killing randomly, and are sure to terrify even the hardiest of the show's fans.

He added, 'I think The Silence are one of the scariest monsters. I love that they've been working since the dawn of time to make The Doctor come unstuck.'
