Scottish couple plan to travel the world after winning Europe’s biggest lottery jackpot

LONDON — A Scottish couple say they plan to travel the world and buy homes for their two children after winning a 161 million pound ($260 million) jackpot, Europe’s largest ever lottery prize.

Colin and Chris Weir said they hope to visit Australia, the Great Wall of China and the art galleries of Paris after winning the EuroMillions draw.

Colin Weir, 64, said the new wealth was overwhelming, but “it feels like a good thing, something we should not be afraid of but for us to enjoy with the children.”

He is a former TV cameraman and his wife is a psychiatric nurse. Both are currently out of work due to health problems.

Their win places the couple from Largs in Scotland 430th on the Sunday Times Rich List of wealthy Britons, not far below David and Victoria Beckham.
