Sex And The City's Kim Cattrall admits playing Samantha Jones made dating 'difficult'
She might have found fame as man-hungry Samantha Jones in Sex And The City - but actress Kim Cattrall has revealed that she finds dating 'difficult'.
Speaking on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, the actress admitted that her outspoken character has had an effect on her own romantic life.
And the 54-year-old confirmed that she is out on the singles market and 'trying' to meet Mr Right.
Looking summery: Cattrall, who is promoting her new film Meet Monica Velour, wore a brightly coloured dress for her appearance on Los Angeles TV show Extra on Friday
Cheerful: The actress appeared to be in a good mood as she left the Grove Shopping Center in LA where the show is filmed
'It's very difficult," she told Ellen, who replied: 'I would think that it would be difficult, that men would be intimidated.'
'A little bit. Yeah,' Cattrall said, before adding, 'Writing a book about the female orgasm didn't help my dating career either. Men like to think that they know it all, especially in that department.'
The actress' appearance on the show is one of several she is making this week to promote her new film Meet Monica Velour, which is released in the U.S on April 8.
Romantic woes: Kim Cattrall told Ellen DeGeneres that dating can be difficult thanks to her Sex and the City alter ego
The film is a comedy which sees awkward young teen Tobe, played by Dustin Ingram, go on a road trip to find his favourite Eighties porn star, played by Cattrall.
However, he discovers that she is now living in rural Indiana and is a 49-year-old single mother struggling to make ends meet, performing in the local strip club.
Cattrall attended the premiere of the film in New York earlier this week and also appeared on the Los Angeles TV show Extra on Friday.
Not so romantic: Cattrall's Sex And The City alter-ego Samantha Jones was known for her man-eating ways
The actress looked summery in a multi-coloured dress and nude sandals as she left the city's Grove shopping mall where the show is filmed.
Since the TV series of Sex And The City finished in 20024 Cattrall has revived the character of Samantha Jones twice in two spin-off movies, released in 2008 and 2010.
However she recently revealed that she and co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis were unlikely to go before the cameras for a third film - and that a prequel featuring the characters as younger women might be made instead.
Revealing: The actress wore a grey dress with a plunging neckline to the premiere of her new film Meet Monica Velour earlier this weekt
'As an actor, they first get a script together and they give you some start dates,' she told the website MovieWeb.
'They put together a budget, and then they say, "We're going to send you a script!"' Cattrall said. 'They want to talk. That hasn't happened. There is now talk of a prequel.
'Whatever happens with those characters,I would love to revisit them. Its like a reunion. It's like going home.'
