Tabloid fodder: After Ryan's divorce with Reese, pictured here at the Oscars in 2006, he became a paparrazi target
Ryan and Amanda have been quietly dating since October after they were spotted together at Kate Hudson's Hallowe'en party last year.
However, their burgeoning romance was rocked by the news his ex-girlfriend Alexis Knapp is pregnant - possibly with his child following their brief fling last year.
Phillippe was photographed with Knapp last summer after ending his three year relationship with Australian actress Abbie Cornish the previous February.
Aspiring actress Miss Knapp, 26, is set to give birth to her first child in June and the actor is prepared to take responsibility as a father should a paternity test turn out positive.
Last month, Ryan's ex-wife Reese married agent Jim Toth in Ojai, California.
Ryan and Reese share two children together; Ava, 11 and Deacon, eight, and both have joint custody.
Ryan came under intense scrutiny from the media when he was rumored to have cheated on Reese with Cornish when she filed for divorce in 2006 after seven years of marriage.
Last year he spoke out about their break-up saying he was tired of coping flak.
'I’ve been dumped on in the press for relationship stuff since Reese and I divorced,' he told PopEater.
'I’m tired of getting s*** on. I don’t feel like I deserve it. Things happen! How many people have you broken up with over your life?'
