Victoria Beckham baby girl: David confirms wife IS expecting a little Spice Girl
Speculation has been mounting for weeks that a baby Spice Girl is on the way, and the secret is finally out.
David Beckham confirmed at an LA Galaxy luncheon yesterday afternoon the news that wife Victoria is expecting their first daughter.
'Obviously, we're very lucky to be expecting again, and this is the first time I'm going to say it: It's a little girl,' the Galaxy midfielder said.
'We're still in shock. Obviously, having three boys, you kind of expect another one, so finding out a little girl is in there is surprising, but, obviously, we are over the moon.'
It's a girl! David Beckham confirmed yesterday that wife Victoria, pictured at Heathrow on Friday is indeed expecting their first daughter
Speaking at the team's annual fan luncheon in ESPN Zone at L.A. Live, he added: 'Our three boys are happy and excited, and Victoria is doing well.'
The couple, who have three sons, have up until now refused to comment on speculation surrounding the sex of their unborn baby.
Last night, a friend confirmed: ‘Victoria and David are expecting a daughter, as you can imagine they are over the moon.
‘The entire family is so excited.’
While visiting a Los Angeles children's hospital this week, David, 35, told reporters: 'She's great, she's very healthy. She's feeling good. She's in London at the moment working.
'We're very excited. It's an exciting time for the family.'
Growing brood: Victoria and David already have three sons, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz
The ever-stylish Mrs Beckham, 36, showed off her bump as she flew into London this week - still wearing her five-and-a-half inch heel boots.
She plans to give birth near her home in Los Angeles in July and the friend added: ‘David was too excited not to be able to spill the beans.
‘At first they were not going to find out, with three boys Victoria was convinced she would have another one - and that was fine. But they gave in and they’ve known the news for some weeks now.
'Now, they just can't wait to meet her, they just want to make sure she's born healthy.'
'Exciting time': David, pictured earlier this week, confirmed the news at an LA Galaxy press conference yesterday
The Beckham boys, Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, eight, and Cruz, five, are also said to be 'overjoyed' about the arrival of a sister.
Beckham admitted recently he would love a girl, explaining: 'I'd love a little girl. We’re blessed to have three beautiful boys already, and if we’re blessed to have another one or two children, that would be amazing.
'Three boys is difficult at times, but there’s nothing that gives you that feeling of coming home and seeing the kids and spending time with them.
'There's nothing better in the world than that. If you’re a parent, then you realise that feeling.'
Happy news: David said of his wife this week, 'She's great, she's very healthy. She's feeling good'
The Beckhams will attend the Royal Wedding next month before heading back to Los Angeles for their daughter’s birth.
The friend added: ‘This is one of Victoria’s biggest problems at the moment - what will she wear? What does a six-months pregnant woman wear to the royal wedding?’
The family are slated to move back to the UK when Beckham’s contract with LA Galaxy runs out in November.
They have already been looking at top boys schools and Beckham, who recently trained with Tottenham Hotspur, admitted yesterday he would still like to play on for an English club.
He said: ‘Who knows. I had a great career in England for 12-13 years. I've always said that I never wanted to play for another English club, because Manchester United is such a great club.
‘I'm getting older now and I don't have many years left. This is my last contract year, but who knows what will happen.’
