Twilight set is given police protection as the production team fight to keep wedding scenes under wraps

Twilight set is given police protection as the production team fight to keep wedding scenes under wraps

Swathes of tarpaulin, huge marquees, road blocks and armed police, all are in place to ensure a high profile wedding goes smoothly.

But it's not preparations for the Royal Wedding later this month - nor is it a high profile celebrity tying the knot.

For when Will marries Kate the wedding will be coursing with blue blood, and the  couple who will wed against this backdrop are more concerned with the red variety.

It is of course, the long-awaited union of teenage vampire Edward Cullen and his human paramour Bella Swan.

And it's every bit as highly anticipated as the Royal Wedding by some, with strenuous levels of secrecy surrounding the details.

It should be noted at this point for those who don't know, that our gruesome groom and beastly bride are of course, fictional characters created by Stephanie Meyer.

They are played by real-life lovers Robert Pattinson, 24 , and Kristen Stewart, 20 , who met on the set of the franchise's first film in 2007.

Meyer penned the whole bloody saga, and this wedding forms the end-piece to her series, rendered tenderly from her novel Breaking Dawn.

The movie adaptation of the same name will be shown in cinemas in two parts, the first available to hysterical fans on November 18, and the second in 2012.

But the anticipation is such that fans just can't wait, and stills of the couple consummating their marriage and Bella giving birth have been leaked.

Meyer released a statement via her Facebook page last week, begging fans not to post photos and to wait for the films

She wrote: 'Please, for those who are posting, stop. And please, though the temptation is high, don’t view or pass on these images. Wait for the film in its beautiful, finished entirety to thrill you.'

The request was backed up by director, Bill Condon and Producer Wyck Godfrey.

But they're leaving nothing to chance after recent breaches, and have high security surrounding the Canadian set.

The hub just outside of Squamish - doubling for Bella's home town Forks, Washington - is surrounded by off-duty police officers and that Canadian staple - the Mounties.

From aerial shots you can make out the Cullen house, which is where the wedding takes place, it is believed that scenes are currently being filmed.

Die-hard fans have longed for this happy ending for four years.

However, the couple's happiness is short-lived when Bella unexpectedly becomes pregnant with a half-vampire half-human daughter who prefers sucking on her blood to drinking warm milk.

The rest of the two films see Bella fighting a lethal battle with her beastly unborn child that grows rapidly inside her, feeding off her blood which eventually  sees Bella on her death bed.

This forces Edward to make the life-changing decision to either lose the human Bella he loves forever or to finally give into her dying wish and give her the eternal life she has been asking for.

It makes the path ahead of Kate Middleton as she adjusts to royal life, seem quite tolerable in comparison.

Robert Pattinson, meanwhile, is more concerned about topless shots than wedding scenes.

The British actor has admitted he's not a gym buff but that he adopted a routine when he realised he had to strip for the big screen.

He told Red magazine: 'At the beginning of this last Twilight movie, I was at the gym constantly because I had to have my shirt off all the time.

'I was obsessively working out and got into being really healthy and cycling everywhere. Then, as soon as I finished doing the 'shirt off' stuff, I just stopped dead, and then never went to the gym ever again. Now I can't bring myself to go.

The last film Eclipse won four awards at the People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles in January.
